Today, Mayor Bloomberg issues a major report that looks at how NYC, in the wake of Superstorm Sandy, can manage the risks of climate change to the city’s infrastructure, buildings and communities. The report comes under the umbrella of Bloomberg’s Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency, or SIRR, launched after Sandy. At the time, the initiative aimed to investigate three key questions:
- What happened during and after Sandy and why?
- What is the likely risk to New York City as the climate changes and the threat of future storms and severe weather increases?
- What do we do with citywide infrastructure and buildings? In Sandy-impacted neighborhoods?
Watch for our coverage as the day unfolds.
