AdaptNY’s central aim is to foster discussion around the issue of climate adaptation, using primary source documentation to help inform that dialogue.
To do this, we are working on three fronts:
- Curation – We’re using social media and the web site’s blogging tools to keep track of the reporting and information circulating around climate adaptation in New York City.
- Documentation – We’re experimenting with document annotation tools through our partner DocumentCloud, to allow our users to share and annotate source documents for their own private notes and for public discussion.
- Conversation – In concert with our public watchdog news partner Gotham Gazette, we’ll explore numerous ways to promote dialogue around the issue of climate adaptation. One example will be, over time, to create original coverage, from data journalism and mapping to multimedia storytelling. Another example will be to conduct two grant-funded workshops this summer and fall in which participants can meet face-to-face to support their online discussions.
